No one will see such an event except in their delusions.

Gods were invented by some well meaning person who was comforting a dying loved one, probably a child, and invented an after life, too. A nice gesture, but today we have grown up and do not need invented deities unless we are still childishly insecure.

If there is a God, why does he demand all this bowing, subservient prostration and sacrifice of humans and animals? Who is insecure, us or Him? Only the most despotic dictators demand such honour and praise on an ongoing basis.

No thanks.

Me thinks he doth protest too much....... Some say that God is dead, he doesn't exist, he's inside your head. I wonder how many are going to be surprised when they look straight up and see him coming through the sky!!

My further response:
Your response was "We understand you feel the current storyline with David and Ruth Archer is it too disturbing." That was NOT my complaint.

The storyline is both idiotic in its rarity plus it encourages criminals to try their hand at intimidation. Only a fool believes that the Archers is not watched by people with trials coming up. When they hear what you are doing in the Archers, they will no doubt wonder if they could get their rape victim or burgled houseowner or victim of car theft to withdraw their story by telling them something bad will happen if they don't.

Contrary to your response this is extremely rare in real life - as rare as a Jumbo Jet wiping out Grey Gables in a crash (for God's sake don't take that as an idea suggestion). It is such a stupid idea, too, because the police are not tapping the phone or giving it anything like the seriousness it deserves i.e. by putting up their own cameras, recording voices and liaising with the family.

I am not distressed by this storyline, I am very, very annoyed by the crass stupidity of it. IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN!

I don't know if you have changed scriptwriters recently, but this is so out of character for the programme that it gives the distinct impression of a change of direction,

My complaint was obviously not read properly or understood for that quote from the response to be serious. Also the "is it" shows no care at all was taken in replying!!

BBC RESPONSE:
Thanks for contacting us regarding ‘The Archers’.
We understand you feel the current storyline with David and Ruth Archer is it too disturbing.
Soaps try to reflect as many aspects of modern life as possible, with stories ranging from social issues, to personal, human tragedy and light character comedy and humour.
That said, a programme which attracts as many listeners as this one inevitably appeals across a wide range of tastes and it’s impossible to please all the people all the time. We hope you continue to tune in and that you find there are storylines which you do enjoy in the future.
We’d like to assure you that we’ve registered your feelings on our audience log. This is the internal report of audience feedback which we compile daily. It ensures that your points and all other comments we receive, are made available across the BBC.
Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.
Kind Regards
Michelle Wiggins

Ah, perhaps, but I am prepared to be open minded. I had to accept that I got things wrong in the eighties on Loch Ness and perhaps still have some wrong. However, when someone tells me that the universe was created for some of the residents of this one unimportant ball of mud, and do so on nothing more than blind faith, then my respect for them goes. If God could not hear the prayers of the people in the second world trade center tower and save them then what sort of God is he? Sorry, not someone for whom I could ever have a kind word.

The old testament is full of horror and the new testament is contradictory throughout.

If God exists, he knows how to get my attention, but I won't be blackmailed into believing in him because of threats. If that is the type of God he is - "Believe in me or go to hell" - then I don't ever want to know him - real or not!

Well its obviously an emotional issue for you Tony as your outspoken and vitriolic views show. I wish I could be as sure in my convictions although your history on the Christian Church would appear to be slightly less comprehensive than Scottish medieval history. Ego's go hand in hand with outspoken beliefs and views from poor service to self praise. I am happy to agree to disagree

Yes it was frustrating and I did not enjoy discovering that I was wrong about much of what I thought the evidence portrayed. However, unlike the religious blind faith of many, I was prepared to accept reasoned argument and have changed my views

Those with blind faith will never change their views and it is that which is so sad. Believing the entire universe was created just for us demonstrates an ego of disproportionate dimensions. Then condemning every being in the universe who is not a believer in the nonsensical risen Christ to eternal damnation is just plain foolish. Christians are a minority and have only had such weight in the past owing to their colonies world wide where, using their Christian principles, they enslaved millions and robbed millions more.

Blind faith speaks for itself.

Tony, reading your angry ramblings leaves one a tad confused as to the deep seated hostility toward others stupidity in having a belief in a God who created the earth whether it be billions or millions of years ago. Belief is a huge part of many peoples lives as surely you would know, when for many years you believed there to be a prehistoric creature in the depths of Loch Ness. So much so that you uprooted and put your entire being into helping promote and discover this mythical creature. I can only imagine your frustration when those boring zoologists at the time clearly stated that it was impossible.......yet your faith and conviction helped motivate you to carry on in pursuit of your goal. The fact that your belief was unfounded is neither here nor there as it give you I would imagine some of the most exciting times of your life. If people wish to believe maybe we should respect their conviction rather than question their logic.

Reading this one back, I note that I am saying "tax". It is not actually a tax. The extra margin will go to the retailers who will want to differentiate wine by quality so all the prices under about 37 will creep up.

Not amused.

Fascinating. So the acceptance of the Companion of Honour and OBE must have been before that. The acceptance of the Presidential Medal of Honor in 2009 obviously grants approval to the actions of the USA as opposed to the UK.

Was not aware of him turning down a knighthood and rather disappointed as this award is granted by the British people and should not be used as a political weapon in the way that it was with Fred the Shred and his ilk.

Thanks for the heads up.
