What Are We Remembering?

11am on 11th November 2014. The Great War began in 1914 and there have more than the usual commemorations this year, but what are we remembering?

There are no longer any surviving soldiers from World War One. There are very few alive today who even remember any of these soldiers from their childhood. Soon everyone who was alive during that conflict will have died.

So are we remembering people we didn’t know who are epitomised by ancient faded monochrome photographs or is it just a remembrance of all soldiers killed in all conflicts?

Ed Miliband – Hopeless, Simply Hopeless

Ed Miliband, hopeless, simply hopelessI have been saying, since this clown was elected, that he is the wrong man for the job. His brother would have been a far better choice.

Now it is so near the election a change could be a disaster. On the other hand a change now could inspire labour voters to switch allegiance back from SNP in Scotland and over from UKIP in the rest of the UK. There are a number of good options including Cooper.

Hopefully, sooner rather than later the idiots supporting UKIP will realise that it would be a total disaster if the UK left Europe. The promised referendum is a nonsense, too, because the strength of arguments for staying in Europe are overwhelming. It’s just a waste of public money.

British politics seem to be in a total mess at the moment and it is difficult to see any really promising outcome in the near future.
